Any company or agency with 1+ employees providing service in Ontario is legally responsible for paying for interpreting services. Any hospital and/or medical service across Canada is legally responsible to provide a qualified sign language interpreter, regardless of size. The Deaf person is usually not responsible for paying/finding the interpreter.

I will accept assignments in instances where I match the cultural and linguistic needs of a space. Cultural identity and lived experience should be considered when booking interpreters for various events. When I do not match the cultural or linguistic needs of the space, I will excuse myself from an assignment and will offer more appropriate referrals. In instances where the content of a space is not about a specific cultural group, marginalized interpreters (IBPOC folks, Queer folks) and Deaf consumer input will still be given preference.
